Colorado PERA Names New Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Colorado PERA Names New Deputy Chief Investment Officer

DENVER – PERA has named Amy McGarrity as Deputy Chief Investment Officer.

Most recently, Ms. McGarrity worked as the Senior Investment Officer for PERA. Ms. McGarrity joined PERA in January 2010 as a result of the Denver Public Schools Retirement System (DPSRS) merger with PERA. Ms. McGarrity served as the Chief Investment Officer at DPSRS. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from Rider University. Ms. McGarrity is a CFA charterholder.

“I am thrilled to continue working with the talented professionals at PERA in my new capacity as Deputy CIO. Over the last several years I have been consistently impressed by the staff’s dedication and commitment to PERA’s members,” said Ms. McGarrity.

“I am looking forward to working with Amy in her new role. Her experience, talent, and knowledge of our organization will be a source of strength for our investment program,” said Jennifer Paquette, PERA Chief Investment Officer.

Ms. McGarrity succeeds David Bomberger who left PERA in late 2012.

Colorado PERA provides retirement and other benefits to more than 499,000 current and former employees of more than 500 public entities in the state of Colorado. Colorado PERA is the 21st largest public pension plan in the U.S. with more than $43 billion in defined benefit and defined contribution assets.
