Three More Cabinet Members Won’t Be Staying Under Hickenlooper

STATE BILL COLORADO

Three more members of Gov. Bill Ritter’s cabinet won’t be joining the administration of Gov.-Elect John Hickenlooper.

Transportation chief Russell George, Personnel & Administration chief Rich Gonzales and Labor & Employment chief Don Mares were said by a source to be the latest to learn that they won’t continue on in their posts. None could be immediately reached for comment.

“We will comment only on candidates who are hired for the new administration,” said Hickenlooper spokesman Eric Brown, declining to comment on whether any of the three had unsuccessfully applied.

On Thursday, The Denver Business Journal reported that Don Marostica, the governor’s economic-development chief, would not be retained by Hickenlooper.

The new governor, like Ritter, a Democrat, will be sworn in Jan. 11.
