Negative campaigning season has begun.

A political advertisement mailed to homes in the Littleton area depicts a senior citizen with a spoon poised to dig into a can of Fancy Kitty cat food, The Littleton Independent reports. The caption: “Imagine a world without Social Security.”

The ad says Republican House District 38 candidate Kathleen Conti would cut Social Security and give the money to big Wall Street banks, presumably leaving senior citizens so destitute they would be forced to eat cat food.
