The House passed a bill Monday that would close one state prison. By a vote of 57-6, HB1421 advanced, The Pueblo Chieftain reports.

Southern Colorado lawmakers were divided. Reps. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo West, Tom Massey, R-Poncha Springs, and Bob Gardner, R-Colorado Springs, voted in favor of the bill. Reps. Wes McKinley, D-Walsh, Sal Pace, D-Pueblo, and Ed Vigil, D-Fort Garland, opposed it.
