Rep. Kathleen Curry, who changed her voter registration from Democrat to unaffiliated, may be able to get on the ballot this year as an unaffiliated candidate, The Denver Post reports.
The Gunnison lawmaker sponsored House Bill 1271, which would make it easier for unaffiliated candidates to get on the ballot. But her bill didn’t go into effect until next year.
In the Senate late Monday, Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, successfully amended the bill to make the law effective as of Jan. 1 of this year.
