SCR10-004: State Fair May Get ‘Racino,’ To Casinos’ Lament

What started as a plan to introduce a new keno lottery game on video terminals has expanded to include a proposed “racino” at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, The Pueblo Chieftain reports.
According to Sen. Abel Tapia, D-Pueblo, the proposal would include live and simulcast horse racing at the Fairgrounds year-round, along with video keno from the Colorado Lottery.
Backers are encountering resistance from the casino lobby, which has expressed concerns that its business would be affected adversely by another gambling option in the state.
