Mesa, Larimer, Adams Assemblies Convene To Pick Candidates

Several county parties held assemblies today, but next week is heavier still. Here’s how news orgs covered today’s political gatherings.

KJCT: Hundreds of Mesa County Democrats candidates came together in Grand Junction today for the Democratic County assembly. The big race is for Michael Bennet’s US Senate seat. Bennet is running for re-election and former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff is challenging him. Bennet came out on top for Mesa County with 152 votes. Romanoff got 118 votes, and 5 were uncommitted to either candidate.

The Coloradoan: Larimer County Republicans are fired up for the coming elections in November, having secured their candidates for the county’s primary elections Saturday afternoon. More than 1,000 people filled the main ballroom at the Fort Collins Hilton, the majority of them delegates from Larimer County who placed their votes and elected eight Republican candidates to the party’s primary ballot in August. Of the seven county positions up for election, only one race will be contested in the primary.
