Sheriff’s Deputy, A Democrat, Is Latest In Race To Succeed Rep. McFadyen

A Pueblo businessman and sheriff’s deputy announced Friday he will run for the Colorado House District 47 seat currently occupied by term-limited Rep. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo West, The Pueblo Chieftain reports. Mark Maestas, 46, of Avondale, said he will run as a Democrat on a number of issues, including law enforcement, health care and education.
With no political party having more than 40 percent voter registration in HD-47, State Bill Colorado considers this among the 22 of 65 House districts that are “truly competitive.” Already announced in the district are Carole Partin, Democrat, and Keith Swerdfeger, Republican.
