Republican and Democratic lawmakers announced plans Thursday to further investigate the Colorado Department of Human Services after a Coloradoan investigation earlier this week brought to light 10 unfinished investigations into child deaths in 2008, The Coloradoan reports. Democratic and Republican leaders, in a rare moment of bipartisanship in this acrimonious legislative session, agreed to a request from Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction, to form an oversight committee to “conduct a top-to-bottom review” into how DHS employees lost track of the investigations.
