HB10-1159: Pace Wonders ‘Why Kill This Bill?’

His bill protecting communities where water transfers originate may be dead, but state Rep. Sal Pace’s commitment to the cause is not, The Pueblo Chieftain reports. In a letter Friday to the Inter-Basin Compact Committee, Gov. Bill Ritter and others, Pace, D-Pueblo, questioned a primary argument opponents used to defeat HB1159. The bill would have required advance negotiations between districts where water transfers originate and the districts benefitting from the transfers to mitigate economic and ecological consequences to the originating community.
