Colorado restaurants as well as candy and soda retailers got a bit of a reprieve in the debate over cutting tax exemptions late Wednesday as a state Senate committee limited to three years the amount of time they must go without current tax breaks, The Denver Business Journal reports. The Senate Finance Committee still passed four bills to suspend or eliminate tax exemptions as part of a budget-balancing package that, if approved fully, could save the state $148.4 million in the fiscal year that begins July 1.
