Standing side-by-side with managers that they tend to be at odds with, union workers from Pueblo’s steel mill were prepared to testify against a bill that would hike the plant’s taxes by an estimated $2 million annually and possibly cost employees jobs, The Pueblo Chieftain reports. Union and management representatives from Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel in Pueblo filled the list of eight expected to testify before the Senate Finance Committee against HB1190.
Note: On Wednesday the House passed HB1190 with a 35-30 vote. If the Senate committee adopted the bill late Thursday, it could be on the Senate floor for debate as soon as today.
