Rep. Christine Scanlan (D-Summit County) announced Friday that she will not resign her HD-56 seat to run for SD-16 being vacated in 2011 by Dan Gibbs.
Scanlan, the House majority whip, said she is dedicated to serving her constituents in Lake, Eagle and Summit counties. Her decision means a wide-open race for Gibbs’ seat, with no declared candidates from either party.
